16S/ITS Metagenomics

Targeted metagenomic sequencing and analysis of microbial samples.

Metagenomic sequencing and analysis of multi-species bacterial, fungal, and environmental samples, using state-of-the-art Illumina® NGS platform, with bioinformatics analysis included.

Service Description

  • Evaluation of DNA material from the microbial sample
  • Construction of a target amplicon NGS library based on 16S rRNA and/or ITS1 barcode sequences, with all required QC steps
  • Sequencing of the library with Illumina short reads, generating comprehensive coverage with high depth and accuracy
  • Demultiplexing, trimming, and quality-filtering of raw sequencing reads
  • Targeted metagenomic analysis to detect and classify microbial taxonomy in the population

Bioinformatics Analysis

Standard types of bioinformatics analysis are included with NGS services.

Metagenomics Analysis

Reads are aligned to known species in public 16S/ITS databases to cluster for Operational Taxonomic Units (OTUs), detect population frequency, and identify taxonomy of microorganisms.

Custom Analysis

Complex bioinformatics analysis for various research purposes can be arranged as a custom project.

Acceptable Target Types

Purified DNA material extracted from various environmental or physiological sample types

Purified Microbal DNA Requirements

Please provide at least 20 µL of purified DNA in Tris HCl pH 8.5 or TE pH 8 to 8.5, with OD260/280 >1.6 and <2.2,  with DNA concentration at least 5 ng/µL.

ACGT recommends DNA quantification using fluorometry. Quantification using Nanodrop is discouraged. Data quality of samples failing specified quantity and quality requirements cannot be guaranteed.

If you prefer ACGT to extract DNA from your sample material, please proceed to request a Custom Project.

Highlights

Submitting Your Samples
